UK Employment: Looking for Sales Opportunities in the Peripheral Cities
People generally believe that the best employment opportunities can be found in their country’s major cities. It seems to be a collective notion that applies to everyone around the world. United Kingdom residents are of no exception and are also inclined to think the same way. Many individuals leave their hometowns in hopes of making their dreams come true in the more popular cities. It cannot be denied that London, Manchester and other key cities in the UK offer plenty of opportunities for everyone. However, the competition in these areas is tougher. In addition to that, cost of living is higher.
More and more people in the UK are slowly acknowledging the fact that there is indeed life outside the big cities. Sales jobs alone are astonishingly growing in number. This is attributed to the fact that all businesses, whether big or small, are in need of a sales and marketing team to succeed. In addition to that, the number of students enrolled in universities and colleges with Sales and Marketing undergraduate majors is also growing. Because of this, cities, no matter the area that they belong, are creating more and more jobs for them.
An example of a UK peripheral city that enjoys a fairly stable economy is Brighton. It is actually a country borough in the south coast of England. Together with Hove, they form the region’s most populous seaside city. In 2008, the South East Development Agency said that the economy in Brighton and its surrounding cities is advanced, high income, broad based and service oriented. There are plenty of sales jobs in Brighton in different sectors that people can apply for. Applicants in Brighton, whether fresh graduates or long time professionals, have so many opportunities right in front of them. The most recent survey says that the most advertised vacancies for sales jobs in Brighton are customer service, sales consultants, sales managers and sales representatives, to name a few.
Liverpool, on the other hand, is another peripheral city of the UK that has so many things to be proud of. It boasts more than just being the origin of The Beatles. It is, however, undeniable that it is the hype of this 1960’s band that drew the thousands of people from all over the world and boosted Liverpool’s tourism. Like Brighton, it offers plenty of Sales jobs open for everyone to apply for. In 2008, Liverpool is named Europe’s Capital of Culture. This acknowledgment is expected to boost the city’s economy during this time of global economic crisis and make it a more appealing place for investors to do business in. Today, sales jobs in Liverpool include, but are not limited to, retail sales, sales training, sales support, technical sales and business development.
As mentioned above, sales professionals are needed in every business. This is true regardless of the business size and demographics. Sales jobs, whether they are in the country’s major city or the peripheral area, provide a very promising future. Armed with the proper skills, diligence and hard work, you might very well be on your way to becoming UK’s most notable salesman, and you do not have to be in crowded London to make this happen.
